Never anything that I considered when I first became a LipSense By SeneGence SenseCosmetics Distributor . Reviews were not a consideration because nothing was going to stand in my way of representing what I felt were the most revolutionary products to hit the market. As I write this post today, I still feel that you should let your heart, passion and love of product guide you and the success will follow.

Love of the Sense Cosmetics products are what drive my ambitions daily even after 5+ years of being a distributor. The perks have been not only monetary but so many more important aspects including personal growth are in my gratful thoughts when I wake up every morning.

So much information on the Web today! and Yes, I can be very opinionated on business practices…Uniqueness of offerings…BUT…when it comes down to choosing a company you need to consider… FIRST! your love of the product. Then decide if you are looking to be just a retailer, MLM builder or Both. You can just retail product if you are provided the right discount structure you will make a pretty nice income monthly. You will have to work. If that is your desire then You must not look at anything less than a 50% discount on your products that you offer to your customers because you will also have to pay associated costs to run your business. Of course, if you would have to enter in at a lesser discount in the beginning stages of building your business that would be OK. Otherwise, I would recommend that you remain a good customer of what ever product you choose.

The mlm side of the business was something that I thought was a pyramid SCAM scheme and wanted NO PART OF in the beginning stages of my business. This is simply not TRUE. MLM’s are just like corporations. Think about it. I am at the top of my MLM Company called Carol Clifton. I have many WONDERFUL women that aligned with me and for whom I feel very responsible for there success (and failures). Now if I were working for Revlon (which I have) then I would be compensated for my efforts of all of my Reps….It’s true and it happened quaterly in my bonus. Not much different. You see that MLM marketing is a situation where I have complete control of my destiny. NOT TO MENTION..MY TIME.

What I will admit is that this type of business is not for everyone. For me, it has been an INCREDIBLE journey and I am once again changing the way I market my products and business opportunity. That is a perk of this type of business and SENEGENCE is the product I Love to put on my face daily.

It is true that the information here may influence people’s decision on whether or not to begin an Arbonne business. As a result, many Arbonne consultants will have to answer some questions about the concerns raised here. It may be necessary to fully disclose the facts about the biz in order to persuade potential recruits to join.

For example, inform them that while you have been satisfied with your results, far less than 1% of consultants make it to NVP. Explain that it takes significant time and work to make it to DM, and they will not earn much (if anything) for their time and efforts for a long time if they are building it the right way.

While 10 hours per week is what most consultants aim to spend, it often requires more than that, (much more), particularly when getting started, (and sometimes after getting promoted). Let them know that at some point, cold market prospecting will be a necessity to maintain position, because they will run out of friends willing to spend money every month. This may involve them needing to take up extracurricular activities and getting acquainted with people they don’t know and wouldn’t normally talk to in hopes to recruit them at some point. They may be okay with this when you tell them that some of their friends will no longer want to be around them anymore if they are constantly “dripping” on them.

Inform them that large upfront investments are risky, and that promotion from fast track front-loading leads to fast crumbling of teams. Let them know that the likelihood of them losing any money spent up front is great, and that their odds of recouping their investment are greater at a slot machine in Vegas than with Arbonne (and, in fact, slot machines are less work).

When you’re talking product and patents, you may need to disclose that Arbonne buys formulas from other labs and chemists, and that these labs also develop and sell formulas to Arbonne’s competitors in the industry. Please explain that Mr. Botiglierri does not work exclusively with or for Arbonne, and he in fact develops products for several other cosmetic companies as well, meaning there may be similar formulas available from other companies.

For those that want to know if it’s like Amway, instead of saying “No, of course not,” try saying, “Well yes, it is. It’s multi-level marketing. In fact, our CEO has Amway on his resume.” When they ask about saturation, explain that some areas are already saturated, as this is inevitable, as the goal of any corporation is market saturation — it is how they make money. You can only hope that they don’t live in one of those areas. Oh, and there are no sales territories. They might be living next door to someone who has already sold the whole neighborhood.

Be sure they understand that they won’t be allowed to sell on the internet without using the Arbonne template website and paying the Arbonne fee for it. And be sure they understand that although this policy used to be enforced, eBay now has anywhere from 1500-3000 Arbonne product auctions going on any given day, where the products can be purchased for a discount of 50-80% off retail, usually sales tax free.

Don’t forget to add that even though these obstacles exist, the consultants have absolutely zero power or ability to do anything about them, as they are in reality at the mercy of Arbonne corporate, because that’s who makes the rules. Be sure to include that Arbonne has the ability to change their compensation plan at any time, for any reason, or just sell the company and leave them with a bill for a Mercedes and no paycheck.

So, in short, disclose that the success rate is low, drop out rate high, financial risk is great, competition is fierce, and almost any Arbonne product can be purchased online anywhere in the world much much cheaper without having to pay the $29. All of this with zero control over any of it. But that’s just capitalism, right?

Other than that, it’s a really great business opportunity that you’re totally satisfied with and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone.

This term sounds cute & harmless although it is a major recruiting tool for new consultants to invest BIG BUCKS in starting there new business.

In previous posts, I have warned women that are considering starting Arbonne business that it is smoke & mirrors…buyer beware. If you have a great product and a good opportunity then why use deception to recruit? Lay it on the line right up front.

Back to puppies…Have you or your child every brought a lost puppy home? Darling & Adorable with no tags? You fantasize that your mother/father would say “WONDERFUL! Let’s keep her”. Actually sounds harmless until you realize all that is involved not to mention the financial obligation for many years. This is exactly the selling technique that Arbonne uses to sell product.

This story begins on Thursday, when I had a women contact me about possibly becoming a SeneGence Distributor. To her credit, she is doing her homework on which cosmetic mlm is right for her and she brings up Arbonne.

Did you know that the real culprit is in your towel….not the water. Skin absorbs moisture while you bathe. Instead of rubbing your skin after your bath, it is better pat it gently or whisk off the water, leaving some moisture behind. Then, immediately apply a good moisturizer. If you use your towel briskly, it is like taking sandpaper to your skin, leaving it chaffed and dry.

2. Use mild soaps, avoiding deodorant soaps, which can be more drying.

3. Apply moisturizers to skin immediately after a bath or shower, and apply a cream, ointment, or lotion to trap water in the upper layers of skin to decrease drying and itching

4. Shave using lotion or hair conditioner instead of shaving foam.

5. Dab petroleum jelly on problem areas to seal in moisture and heal very dry skin.

Mineral oil (oil derived from petroleum) is found in many cosmetics, such as moisturizers, make-up and barrier creams. But some people are concerned about its effects.

The claims: Websites reporting the dangers of toxic ingredients in cosmetics say mineral oil is contaminated with known carcinogens. It also dries the skin, causes premature aging and acne, robs the skin of vitamins A, D, E and K, and prevents the skin absorbing collagen from collagen moisturizers.

The facts: Some petroleum oil derivatives may contain polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), some of which are known to be carcinogens. People who work with such mineral oils have to take precautions to avoid skin contact.
However, the mineral oil used in food and cosmetics, known as medicinal white oil, is highly refined, with extremely low PAH levels. Medicinal white oil has to meet stringent purity requirements defined by the US FDA and international standards, and there’s no evidence of cancer being caused by this oil.

Unfortunately there are no references provided for the other claims against mineral oil, so we can’t check the validity of the sources. We checked medical abstracts and couldn’t find any published research on the dire effects of cosmetic-grade mineral oil.

Mineral oil in moisturizers acts as a barrier between the skin and air: it doesn’t add moisture to the skin, rather it prevents moisture loss. There’s no evidence it dries the skin, causes premature aging, or robs the skin of vitamins. Since collagen molecules in moisturizers are too large to be absorbed into the skin anyway, mineral oil can hardly make things worse. However, some people may find it makes their acne worse. Petrolatum, a petroleum-derived cosmetic ingredient found in lip balms (among other things) has also been found to cause acne in some people.

The Verdict

There’s no evidence cosmetic-grade mineral oil causes cancer and as far as we could establish it isn’t bad for your skin. Of course, lack of evidence of harm isn’t the same as evidence of lack of harm — but the onus of proof should lie with those making the wild claims in the first place. Many anti-mineral oil crusaders are selling ‘natural’ products free from the evil oil.

Please read below a couple of excerpts from the author Paula Begoun. She has written a couple of books that I reference often, “Don’t Go to the Cosmetic Counter Without Me” and “The Beauty Bible” which is common sense approach pertaining make-up and skin care. “…there is no such thing as “all natural” “pure” cosmetics. They don’t exist, and if they did, they would not be good for the skin. Natural is … a term… that is not regulated, so ….if a company wants to call its products natural, it can, and it doesn’t matter what they contain. … Even if “all natural” products did exist you wouldn’t want to use it on your skin, anyway. Think about a bunch of fruits and plants or vegetables sitting in your bathroom. What would happen in a very short amount of time if they did not contain preservatives? They would become moldy and disgusting in just a few days. Skin-care products contain very “unnatural” sounding preservatives …Just think of how many people have hay fever and you will start to realize just how unfriendly natural ingredients can be.

What makes this natural craze so annoying is …it perpetuates myths which can actually hurt a woman’s skin. All of the following natural ingredients can cause skin irritation, allergic reactions, skin sensitivity and/or sun sensitivity: allspice, almond, angelica, arnica, balm mint oil, balsam, basil, bergamot, cinnamon, citrus, clove, clover blossom, cocoa butter, coriander oil, corn oil, cornstarch, cottonseed oil, fennel, fir needle, geranium oil, grapefruit, horsetail, jojoba oil, lavender oil, lemon, lemon grass, lime, marjoram, Melissa, oak bark, papaya, peppermint, rose, sage, tea tree oil, thyme, witch hazel and wintergreen… Furthermore, while vegetable oils may sound better for the skin, dimeticone and cyclometicone (silicone oils) are actually far more beneficial and offer the most impressive benefits for the skin. They are in 80% of all skin care, makeup and hair care products you buy. Yet you rarely hear about them because the cosmetic companies think consumers won’t find them as sexy or alluring as plants or oxygen therapy or cellular repair or a thousand other marketing angles that have nothing to do with what really works for your skin…”
