Yesterday! SeneGence International sent out a email newsletter to all Consultants of “Tips & Tricks from Celebrity Make up Artist Kandee Johnson” all so neatly organized (unlike my notes from that day) for us to share.

Bet that makes you want to Join Me in the SeneGence fun now?

Oh Kandee!

She is brilliant in her delivery! precisely to the point and minces NO Words thus always telling it like it is while adding a bit of humor to soften the blow!
Every single tip she shared that day in Laguna Beach was done with a variety of SeneGence Skincare products & Color Cosmetics.

AHHH! My only description of the experience was sheer amazement at her talent that would rise to a stunning crescendo at the end of each makeover. Total Excellence. WOW

These marvelous Tips and Tricks will be published here with additional product information pertaining to the incredible versatility and value in SeneGence products that really work. AND so we begin with the 1st tip… HOW TO: Create the Perfect Canvas for Contouring.

She began by saying that each of us (SeneGence Cosmetic Consultants) are Mini Educators and women look to us as the experts to deliver the information, advice, recommendations, glamor and of course product knowledge about SeneGence skincare, LipSense, SeneDerm, SeneDerm Solutions and Sense color cosmetics. She always recommends 2-3 concealers and now…Me too.

“For a softer look always use SeneDerm Daytime Moisturizer before your MakeSense Foudation application.”

SeneDerm Daytime Moisturizer will provide you with the perfect non-greasy amount of moisture while promoting cellular renewal and the added benefit of a mechanical shield equivalent to a 15 SPF. When you add Oil free, Makesense foundation on top of your Daytime Moisturizer you will have the added benefit of SenePlex Complex skincare built into your foundation and an enhanced mechanical shield elevated to a 30 SPF…

Now that’s VALUE and critical PROTECTION against the environment and harmful sun rays.

“Dark Diminishes – Highlight the face by contouring the outer edge with Mink MakeSense Foundation. Make certain to blend well into the earlobes and hairline.”

Blending is the operative word throughout many of the tips. You choose! Fingers, Cosmetics sponges or brushes. My personal feeling is that a good set of brushes will serve you well for many years and SeneGence offers a beautiful Brush Set complete with an appropriate brush for every need. Contact me if you are interested in purchasing or earning a set.

“Light Pops – Apply normal, lighter shade of MakeSense Foundation as highlighter in the middle of the face. Blend out onto cheeks, neck and up into hairline.”

The tip will create the illusion of a youthful, thinner face furthermore, she went on to insist that everyone needs two foundations…Keeping with blending your way to simple and easy natural looking beauty.

ENJOY!!! let me know you thoughts! as comments are always stimulating.

Coming Soon…How To: Highlight you Eyes & Lift Cheek Bones

They would do weekly parafin wax treatments and send me home with many different hand creams (some prescription, some over the counter) and treatments to control my dry hands. I spent countless hours and funds in an effort to solve my problem. None of the products I used would produce the result of “NO DRY HANDS.” UNTIL…

A friend of mine in SeneGence, recently recommended that I try Climate Control followed by SeneDerm night cream . She said to try it both morning and evening. My test trial is now complete after 6 weeks of this daily regimen. My dry hands are gone and my age spots have completely faded. For me, this is a Miracle.

Now let’s address the actual science behind the poduct “Climate Control”. Climate Control is actually a moisturizer used for both Sensitive and Dry Skin Types that compliments our SeneDerm skincare system. Climate Control Moisturizer with SelPlex is a propriatary formulation of two seperate and highly effective delivery systems, combined into one advanced NEW delivery system technology called “DualSense.” Climate Control ehances the anti-aging effects of our skincare and can provide extra moisture for those times when you need it. In the case of my hands that is ALL THE TIME.

Climate control actually combines two SeneGence proprietary complexes: SenePlex & SelPlex. SenePlex is the same anti-aging complex found in SeneDerm Skincare and all of our creamy cosmetics. SelPlex is an additional, amazing complex formulated specifically as a soothing and highly moisturizing “self” suspension fluid, when combined, that will deliver SenePlex deeper into the layers of the skin.

In my case, Using the night cream over the Climate Control is completly logical. It is necessary to “Lock In” Climate Control with a Moisturizer. Our Evening Moisturizer is highly rich with emoillients which when used with Climate Control had the potentail to solve my problem.

This is so exciting for me. I love it when products actually produce a true result. This is also very cost effective. No more $60.00 hand creams that evaporate away in 3 hours or less. Climate Control is one small product packed with HUGE Benefits.

SKIN CARE is the basis for any “GREAT FACE”. Skin Care has changed my face and I only wish that someone would have offered information regarding skin care in my early Teens.

Back in the old days (60′s & 70′s) skincare was rather prehistoric.

Generally, heavy creams, lotions and potions were available at the local drug store. Skincare has evolved and improved with technology currently available on the market today. I recommend that you start your children (both male & female) on skincare by the time they are 12 years old. This will in many cases allow you to avoid costly trips to the Dermatologist.

My Boys are 22 & 24 years old and spent many long hours in waiting rooms at Dermatologist offices as well has many trips to the pharmacy. When my daughter turned 12, I started her on a very simple skincare regimen of a water-soluble cleanser that simulated the look and feel of soap. She would follow with a very light Daytime Moisturizer that gave her a non-chemical spf. of 15. Her skincare before bedtime always came before brushing her teeth. Alexis avoided the Dermatologist entirely and at 17 has beautiful skin. This set off a Huge Light bulb for me and I immediately put my boys on skincare.

Ricky and Chad have not gone a day without skincare since they realized it had been the answer for Alexis. You should teach your children to listen to there skin. My best recommendation is to keep it simple with an oily cleanser and a normal to dry cleanser. As seasons change so does your skin and it’s needs. You may find that they need to alternate daily. Generally Normal to Oily Daytime Moisturizer will be sufficient for most children and younger adults.

Think about GIFTING your children with a good foundation of basic skincare information and products. I promise you and your children won’t regret it….Maybe the Dermatologist will!

I find it very intriguing when someone tells me that they have chapped lips. My first question is always “What do you use to protect and heal your Lips?”. The answer varies from Chapstick, Blistex, Carmex, lipstick, glosses and so on. In most cases women wear a combination in search of the cure. The mystery behind chapped lips is solved in what you choose to put on your lips to keep them moisturized. Did it ever occur to you that wax and petroleum jelly are barriers to entry? They will not heal your dry chapped lips. Instead, they will tame the fibers on top, leaving you with a waxy smooth feeling. Most are fooled by that feeling until it wears off revealing dry chapped lips once again. These companies are relying on your addiction to that necessary feeling for there revenues. Men & Women should apply a shea butter product. Several lip products contain about 95% shea butter. Shea butter naturally heals and will over one lip natural exfoiliation process (about 2 weeks) reveal beautiful soft and supple lips. Make sure that you apply your shea butter balm/gloss at bedtime as this will allow maximum absorption for an extended period.
Lipstick is one of the worst culprits for causing dry chapped lips.

Most lipsticks contain wax, resin or both. Wax and resin will create tiny lesions in your lips resulting in day chapped lips. The same process as I stated above will also occur with lipstick use. I have found that using a lip stain with a very fine molecular structure followed by a shea butter gloss that actually penetrates the lip stain will heals chapped lips. The product is called Lipsense. The added bonus with this product is that it also offers a complete mechanical shield against the elements.

You can end your dry chapped lips by just reading the ingredient labels on the products you choose to buy.

Recently, it has been in the news that Eye Pencils, Eye Shadows & Mascara’s can cause eye infections. In some cases these infections can be long term and even life long.

In the past, I have had issues with cosmetics and my eyes that resulted in corneal ulcers. That experience has taught me to always beware of the cosmetics I choose to apply around my eye area.

Powder Eye shadows with a high degree of mica (shimmer) should never be applied on the lid closest to your lashes. The mica can easily detach and become airborne thus landing in you eye and resulting in an infection. Consider using cream shadows as they adhere to the skin and stay where you put them. Currently, I use one that is waterproof and gives me added protection from movement.

Eye Pencils contain wax which will also cause an irritation and redness. I would recommend that you never use a wax pencil on the lower lid inside the eye as that will produce the most risk for infection. If you have a steady hand then use a liquid eyeliner and preferably waterproof. The other products that make very good eyeliners are cream shadows applied with a brush.

Mascaras are a MAJOR culprit of eye infections. In my particular circumstance, it was TAR in the mascara that caused my problem. Most mascaras contain tar and plenty women never have problems. Tar is the ingredient used to pump up the volume in your lashes. I achieve the same look by applying my current mascara twice while obtaining piece of mind that I will not be at the Ophthalmologist office this week.

Be sure to replace all eye products every 3 months. This is a legitimate recommendation because eye products become easily contaminated through daily use. You can possibly extend this by washing brushes daily, using disposable applicators and never use your fingers to blend your eye products.

Standard glosses currently on the market use a much different technology involving oils, fats, waxes to create lip products. LipSense gloss contains silicones with Shea butter. Shea Butter adds protection to your lips. It will moisturize your lips by actually attracting moisture from the environment to your lips. Shea butter will act as a barrier to assist in maintaining moisture in your lips. Shea Butter is what they use to heal burn victims. Body products that contain Shea butter will react in the same way. Buyer beware when purchasing body products that contain Shea butter. Make sure that you check the ingredient labels as shea butter is VERY EXPENSIVE and somewhat cost prohibitive to use in large quantities for bulky products like bodycreams. Usually you will find shea butter in smaller products such as eyecreams, lip products or facial products.

We all know that winter can be tough on skin. Caring for your skin in the presence of winter-related stresses is not just a matter of comfort – it also guards against potential problems, including skin infections. To keep your skin in good shape for the winter, American Academy of Dermatology has the following tips:Brief Bathes or showers in lukewarm – not hot water – To keep the moisture from leaching out of your skin

Did you know that the real culprit is in your towel….not the water. Skin absorbs moisture while you bathe. Instead of rubbing your skin after your bath, it is better pat it gently or whisk off the water, leaving some moisture behind. Then, immediately apply a good moisturizer. If you use your towel briskly, it is like taking sandpaper to your skin, leaving it chaffed and dry.

		 		2. Use mild soaps, avoiding deodorant soaps, which can be more drying.

		 		3. Apply moisturizers to skin immediately after a bath or shower, and apply a cream, ointment, or lotion to trap water in the upper layers of skin to decrease drying and itching

		 		4. Shave using lotion or hair conditioner instead of shaving foam.

		 		5. Dab petroleum jelly on problem areas to seal in moisture and heal very dry skin.

By now, you have figured out that my HOLIDAY STRESS level is relatively high due to my delay with my 2nd post for reliving skin stress during the holidays. Why is it that we mothers are expected to do it all during the holidays? My answer is that I am working at creating life long MAGICAL MEMORIES for all the people I lOVE. The preceeding statement is my mantra throughout the holiday season and it makes me smile.

3. Problem – Skin Hanover/Eye Puffiness: Though preventive measures can help, the inevitable “skin hangover” is still bound to occur. More alcohol, combined with richer, usually saltier foods, plus a lot less sleep, can come together to give you a bloated, puffy look, particularly the day after a night of holiday cheer.
Alcohol dilates your blood vessels, and that is what allows the fluid to leave the vessels and enter the tissues, which in turn is what causes the puffiness.

Possible Solutions:

It is recommended that your head be elevated while sleeping to help the fluids to drain from your puffy cheeks and eyes.

SeneGence’s EyeCreme is perfect the eye puffiness problem. The reason being is that it has 9 different weighted oils in it and the weight of these oils will actually help to reduce the puffiness.

Some other suggestions are: cool compresses with water or cooled compresses of tea bags to help take down the swelling on the eyes.

4. Problem – Skin is looking a little green: Have you had that “morning after”, where you feel your are looking a tad bit “green”? It has been suggested by the experts to warm up the skin – one may want to consider a bronzer — yes, a bronzer — even in the middle of winter. This is the best way to perk up your complexion and get the glow going.

Possible Solutions:

We have several ways with our SeneGence products to achieve this. We can use BlushSense – Cognac Crème

Or use ShadowSense – Moca Java or Malt depending on your coloring

Our Self-Bronzer

Or a darker shade of foundation than what you normally wear in Winter.
